UMi’s mission is to make it easier for businesses to find the best information, expertise and finance so that they can do more and go further. They have three core products:

  • Advice and Connections: helping businesses to develop a road map and a plan to go further, coupled with consultancy, examples include the delivery of the national Business Support Helpline service, digital adoption aimed at SMEs, supply chain development programmes, etc.
    Investment Centre: design and delivery of full grant and debt programmes to provide finance for sole traders, SMEs and charities. Example of funds: with the Scottish Government – UMi Debt Finance Scotland and Newly self-employed grant scheme, West Yorkshire Combined Authority Energy support scheme, Various capital grant schemes for Combined Authorities and Local Authorities.
    UMi Sat Nav for Business: An online platform to enable businesses to get the information, expertise and finance they need 24/7. The service includes access to our trained adviser team. Sat Nav also has UMi’s own grant finder tool and has partnered with Swoop to provide access to broader finance, via their tool. The British Business Bank Start Up Loans Company have chosen UMi (along with Newable) to be their Post Loan Support Provider, Sat Nav forms a key part of this service.

UMi’s Advisers are trained to SFEDI levels 5 and 7 (or equivalent) in Delivery of Business Support Services, depending on role.
