Our members represent enterprise agencies and other organisations connected to the enterprise support sector, all based in the UK and all providing free or low cost expertise and services. Over the past year, NEN has continued its mission to represent, connect and promote enterprise support organisations to key government stakeholders and policymakers, advocating the value of start-up and small business enterprises to the UK economy.
Continuing to forge overseas links to expand reach, learn best practise and explore opportunities, working with fellow organisations in Northern Ireland, Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands.
We support organisations like yours by representing your interests to government and others in the public and private sectors. Promote your value and connect you to people and projects, both inside and outside our network, as well as sharing valuable knowledge and opportunities in the ever-changing landscape of enterprise support.
We promote our members’ successes and contribution to enterprise and the economy. With over 4,000 followers on Twitter alone, we enable greater reach and engagement for our members.
We connect our members with each other for the exchange of knowledge and ideas, and with people, programmes and projects inside and outside the Network. This can be through our programme of webinars, drop-ins, huddles, workshops and our Annual Conference.
Our members’ newsletters provide advance briefings of legislative changes, upcoming funding opportunities, and intelligence and data to inform bid applications.
Members may receive direct referrals from individuals seeking support and advice in their area. We analyse the data and share the results of our annual members impact research.
The annual NEN members awards celebrate excellence in the delivery of enterprise support. They also encourage continual service improvement through the exchange of good practice and offer members an opportunity to raise their profile. Find out more here.
National Enterprise Network manages the approved register of local enterprise agencies on behalf of the Department for Business and Trade.
As a Department for Business and Trade Approved Enterprise Agency, tax relief can be claimed on contributions (whether cash or in-kind) to an approved local enterprise agency by a sponsor carrying on a trade, profession or vocation.
The law provides for tax relief on contributions to a local enterprise agency (LEA), so those LEAs receiving donations, sponsorship or any type of support in kind can ensure their donors benefit.
Approved status rests primarily on the organisation having a core objective to encourage and support small business in a local community and also on a not-for-profit clause.
This operation is a separate entity to National Enterprise Network membership, although many of our members are approved through this scheme.
